Jude Bellingham has expressed hope of a challenging but exciting career at Real Madrid and took the opportunity to thank Borussia Dortmund for his time at the club.
Madrid confirmed the signing of the Englishman from Dortmund on Wednesday
Bellingham signed a six-year deal to become Real Madrid’s latest signing ahead of the 2023-24 season.
It is understood the deal will guarantee Dortmund £88.5m – but will rise towards £113.5m as a result of £25m worth of performance-related add-ons – which are believed to be achievable.
“Thank you to everyone at BVB [Dortmund] and to the fans for everything over the past three years,” Bellingham said.
“It’s been an honour to wear your jersey so many times, in big and small moments.
“Even though I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once a Borusse, always a Borusse. All the best for the future.” scoring 14 goals and registering seven assists.
“We thank Jude for three years of passion for Borussia Dortmund. It was a fantastic time together,” Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said.
“We would also like to thank Real Madrid for the always fair and constructive discussions and I look forward to exciting and challenging career in Spain.
Belligham will be unveiled as Real Madrid’s new player on Today.
