The people of Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area have called on the State Governor, RT Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently implement the April 5 resolution on the demarcation of the disputed land between the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Community.

They made the call during a  peaceful protest over the 27 years old crisis between the two neighbouring Communities.

Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area is a very polulated area but its environment reels of suffering from stunted growth following the frequent clashes in the 27 years with its neighbouring Community, Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West Local Government Area.

Only on Wednesday morning, the Aladja Community experienced another round of attack from gunmen who they believed were from Ogbe-Ijoh Community, hence the protest by the Aladja people.

Speaking during the protest, President General of Aladja Community, Prince Ibrahim Dumuje said the Delta State Government should as matter of urgency, implement the April 5 resolution reached between the two Communities at the 33 battalions barrack, in Warri.

Prince Dumuje, represented by his second Vice President, Dr Richard Lafua noted that the Aladja people are sick and tired of frequent clashes with their neighbors.

While noting that the Aladja people are lover of peace, the President General of Aladja Community urged the people of Ogbe-Ijoh Community to shealthe their swords and embrace peace.

The President of Aladja Community Council, Comrade Shell-Okakotu Godfirst said that all the Community wants, is peace with its neighboring, hence the people continue to appeal to Governor Oborevwori to ensure the demarcation of the disputed boundary.

Comrade Godfirst disclosed that one side of the disputed land has been demarcated suggesting the demarcation of the remaining side so as to bring permanent peace between the warring communities.

A woman, Mrs Ruth Christopher and the youth leader, Reuben Doro complained that the lingering crisis has caused loss of lives and property as well as handicapped economic development of both Communities.

Aladja people alleged the complicity of a particular soldier whom they identified as Major Solomon in the recent attacks.

They also alleged that people of Ogbe-Ijoh Community have started encroaching on the side of the land yet to be demarcated.

An aged man, Mr Lucky Onoduaire also called for the help of the Federal Government in resolving the crisis.

The Aladja people noted that until 1996, they had been living at peace with the Ogbe-Ijoh people.
