Afuze, the adminstrative headquarters of Owan East Local Government Area is agog as youth teams of under 18 Boys and Girls in Edo state are gearing up ahead of this year’s Labour Cup Football Tournament in honour of the first Labour leader in Nigeria, Pa Michael Aitokhaimen Imoudu.
The tournament Organise by the Federation of Youth Soccer Clubs( FEYSOC) a national Youth affiliate of the Nigeria Football Federation, south south zone, will hold from 13th -20th October 2025, at AFuze, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo state.
Each local Government Area of the state is expected to send their male and female teams to the event, just as privately owned teams are also invited to participate in the tournament also aimed at celebrating the Sports Loving Governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo given his massive investment in sports in the state and the good working relationship with the workers.
Owan East Local Government Area is the defending champions in both categories of the tournament and look set to defend and retain the titles for the performing Chairman of Owan East Local Government Area, Hon Aruna Mohammed, who has delivered in all sector since he assumed office some months ago.
Meanwhile, the organisers the tournament has praised the efforts of Owan East Local Government Area, led by Hon Aruna Mohammed for giving the youths of Edo state the opportunity to showcase their God given talents during the one week soccer tournament expected to bring together the best of grassroots football talents in the state.
