ln the keenly contested final, played last weekend, at the MOPOL field, in Nyanya, a sub-urb of Abuja; Zone 4 All Stars successfully defended the trophy they won last year, by edging debutants, Timeless Titans All Stars 1-0, withJersey No.10 Nobert Young John, scoring the only goal of the match, in the dying minutes.

Norbert Young who played for Calabar Rovers in the nation’s second tier league, the NNL from 2015 to 2016 before joining ASOSA Football Club of Togo, told reporters that winning the tournament back-to-back, is a motivation to win it again, next year.

In the 3rd place match, played earlier, at the same venue, Aso “C” All Stars, Mararaba took the bronze medal, after defeating Mpape All stars 5-4 on penalties, after a goalless 90 minutes.

The tournament which began with over 40 veteran football teams, within the Nyanya-Karu-Mararaba axis is open to former footballers, aged 45 years, and above, with each team also allowed a maximum of 5 players that shouldn’t be less than 40 years.

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zaka Maikalangu was represented at the final, and courtesy of the Local Organising Committee, headed by Ladan Zubairu; the teams that made it to the podium, received in addition to their trophies and medals, varied cash gifts.
