BThe President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has pledged greater commitment to women’s football as part of plans to elevate the game to global standards.

Gusau, who attended the NNL Super Four Draw in Lagos, also commended Toptier Sports Management for its investment in the Nigeria National League, which he said is now attracting global attention.

Speaking to journalists at the event, the NFF president praised the structure and visibility that private partnership has brought to the domestic game.

“I want to use this medium to commend Toptier Sports Management for what they have been doing in the Nigeria National League. Their investment in the league and their belief in our structure have yielded dividends. Just look at the visibility of the NNL Super Four Draw, the organization, the media presence, the television coverage, and the visibility they have given the league. It is worthy of note. Kudos must go to the CEO of Toptier Sports Management, Mrs. Chichi Nwoko, for believing in our structure,” Gusau said.

“I also want to use this medium to assure you that my team and I will sit at the table with them to discuss how we can promote Nigeria’s women’s football to the top level. I have personal discussions countless time with Chichi about female football and her passion for it is top notch. Our women’s football can never be undermined. We remain the best in Africa. We have won countless trophies, and that is why we have decided to host a CAF B Female Workshop in Nigeria in a couple of weeks. The workshop will focus on how women’s football in our region can improve.”

“We will continue to support the women’s league and all our leagues.”

“With Toptier Sports Management’s investment, our dream has been validated going forward,” the WAFU B President concluded.

The event at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, showcased the new commercial appeal of the NNL, with Toptier Sports Management announcing a ₦10 million prize for the Super Four winners. Gusau said such investment proves the Federation is on the right path in attracting private capital to develop all tiers of Nigerian football.
