On Thursday, Chief George Aluo, Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL) and NFF Executive Committee member, spoke with pride about the major strides Nigeria’s second-tier football league has made in recent years.
Aluo was especially pleased that private clubs are set to dominate the top flight next season. All four teams promoted from the NNL this year — Doma United, Sporting Lagos, Rancher Bees, and Inter Lagos — are privately owned.
“This isn’t me just praising myself, but I’m genuinely happy with the huge progress we’re making,” he said. “Take Friday’s draw ceremony for example. 
This is the first time we’re holding a big, formal event for our season-ending tournament draw. That never happened before, not even during the Super Eight era.”
He also acknowledged Toptier Sports Management, the league’s sponsors, for their backing. “I want to thank them for the support they’ve given us, and I assure them the NNL will keep giving them strong visibility and value in return.”
