    Bayelsa United Feeders Win Yenagoa LGA Final After Three Attempts

    ‎Bayelsa United Feeders have emerged as Yenagoa Local Government Area champions in Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup.Bayelsa United Feeders overpowered determined Brazil FC 5-4 on penalties after a two-all draw in regulation time in an encounter decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Sunday, 19th April, 2026.‎‎Jackson Ofoin put champions Bayelsa United Feeders in front eleven minutes into the game from a well-delivered ball. Nathaniel Ojigbare doubled the scoreline for Feeders on 25 minutes, having taken charge of the encounter.‎After an unimpressive first half, Brazil FC’s Godswill Kutu (Gele) responded from a close range effort on 59 minutes to rekindle Brazil FC’s hopes of winning the Yenagoa LGA championship. Peremobowei Godspower on 63 minutes levelled the scoreline to stretch the encounter into penalty shootout.

    ‎The victory earned Bayelsa United Feeders ‎₦1,000,000 while runners-up, Brazil FC received ₦500,000.

    ‎Bayelsa United Feeders is the latest team to join Okoroma United, Movers FC of Otuasega, Kolobiriowei FC of Bolou Orua, Odi United of Odi, NDU Oilers FC of Amassoma, Mini FC of Minibie and Osunmabio FC, after three consecutive attempts.

    ‎The Mayor of Yenagoa City, Hon. Bulodiseye Ndiwari in his remark, said the tournament has successfully taken a handful of youths away from social vices particularly in Yenagoa, maintaining that the competition has continued to be a veritable platform for talents discovery in the State.

    ‎He asserted that the council would continue to collaborate with the organisers of the Prosperity Cup for the betterment of the competition, pointing out that he was pleased with the quality of football displayed by both teams in the final.

    ‎Hon. Ndiwari appreciated the governor, Senator Douye Diri and the Central Organizing Committee, COC of the Prosperity Cup led by Mr Ono Akpe, for investing in the youths, stressing that the competition has positively engaged the youths of Bayelsa State.

    ‎Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe, in an interview, remarked that the LGA finals have witnessed entertaining football across the eight LGAs, stating that the LGA finals has justified the investment of the governor in youths development.

    ‎He hinted that the women’s version of the tournament will run concurrently with the round of 32 with the grand finale coming up on Friday, 8th of May, 2026 at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

    ‎Mr. Ono explained that one of the innovations of this year’s tournament was the inclusion in the Rules and Regulations of the competition, for team coaches to add five fresh players to teams that qualify for the Round of 32, with a view to strengthening their respective squads ahead of the money-spinning stage of the fiesta.

    ‎Victorious Coach of Bayelsa United Feeders, Dimie Ineididie in his post-match reaction, commended the lads for the show of dexterity, adding that their triumph has opened a new page for the team.

    ‎With the eight LGA finals now concluded, attention now moves to the Round of 32 scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 22nd of April, 2026 across different centres in the State.
