The EX-University of Ibadan Footballers Association has announced the appointment of Mutiu Adepoju, MON, as a Member of its Board of Trustees (BOT), with immediate effect.

Adepoju, widely known in football circles as “The Headmaster,” is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished football icons. A former Super Eagles midfielder, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and represented the country at three FIFA World Cups, earning respect for his discipline, leadership, and technical ability on the pitch.

In a statement signed by Edwin Evbie, the President of the Association , the association highlighted Adepoju’s longstanding support for EXUIFA’s mission, noting his consistent encouragement, humility, and dedication to youth and football development. The committee expressed confidence that his wealth of experience and global perspective would strengthen the organization’s vision and credibility.

“His passion for advancing football, particularly at the grassroots level, aligns perfectly with our goals,” the statement read. “We are honored to welcome a figure of his stature to the Board of Trustees.”

Adepoju’s appointment follows the stepping down of Pastor Adebayo Gbadebo. EXUIFA extended its appreciation to Gbadebo for his service and contributions, wishing him success in his future endeavors.

With Adepoju now on board, EXUIFA says it is poised to deepen its impact and continue promoting excellence in football within its community and beyond.

Members of the association and the wider football community have been encouraged to warmly welcome the new trustee as he begins his tenure.
