SAPELE AND THE SHORTAGE OF ARTISANS AND SKILLED WORKERS

“The Pursuit Of The Greatest Good For The Largest Number Is The Prime Purpose Of Governments And Governance” (Aristotle).

Sequel to the egregious rate of unemployment as a global phenomenon, the United Nations declared a day for sensitizing our World on the imperative of Global Skills Acquisition as a weapon and fulcrum for interrogating and checkmating the teratoid tentacles of multidimensional poverty, joblessness, criminality and massive unemployment, etc.

Sapele is a microcosm in the macrocosm of our World as a Global Village. It became an Ordinance Town in 1946 alongside Calabar and Abeokuta for ease of Administration by the Colonial Masters after the Richardson, Milverton and Bourdillons’ Constitution Engineering process.

Sapele grew to become an Emporium, commercial cynosure, industrial nerve centre, social Mecca and breathtakingly beautiful.

We had OMIMI SHOE FACTORY, AT&P, SAPELE PONTOON, SAPELE PORT, SCOA, BATA, LENARDS, LIMSON, KINGSWAY, MISSION OF CALIFORNIA, K.CHELLERAMS, ETERNIT, FLOUR MILLS, SHRIMPS COMPANY, GOVERNMENT PARASTATALS AND MINISTRIES, ETC.

Today, Sapele has become a deserted village, ghoulish gulag and a rebarbative Terra. The spaghetti flourish of Companies and Firms are gone with the wind.

The great Renaissance of Education has made all of us and our children Professors and Graduates with no vocational training and skills acquisition. The Artisans which we relegated to the background as ne’er-do-wells are no where to be found (Motor Mechanics, Bricklayers, Carpenters, Electricians and Welders, etc).

We call on SAFARIANS as part of the Global Community to get Education through Tertiary, etc Institutions. But, let us emphasize the cardinal importance of HEAD, HEART AND HAND pragmatism in consummate Education.
The Amukpe Vocational Centre and Sapele Technical College (STC), etc could help forestall the Afghanistanisation and Lebanonisation of Sapele’s economy and industrial growth. But???
We hope our Leaders at all levels in NIGERIA and SAFARIANS in particular will put these suggestions in their pipes and smoke them.

    UP SAFARIANS ✌️✌️✌️
