The 2025 Onicha-Olona Unity Football Cup , the sixth in the series , will kickstart at the Donald Ochei Ultra modern Stadium , Onicha Olona in Aniocha North local government area of Delta State .
The annual football fiesta is sponsored by Speaker emeritus of the State House of Assembly and current President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation ( NTF), Rt Hon Engr Victor Onyekachi Ochei, MNSE, Esq, under his Victor Ochei Foundation.
Also a fantastic initiative aimed at discovering young football talents and fostering unity among youths of the area, the Olona unity cup tournament has also been a significant platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and potentially pave the way for a promoting future in football.
Expected to kick off on Monday December 22, 2025 at the Donald Ochei Ultra modern Stadium singlehandedly built by Rt Hon Ochei, the Six quarters of Onicha-Olona -Ogbekenu, Agbamu, Umuolo ( defending champions ), Ogbe-Obi, Ishiekpe, and Idumuje Olona- will compete for the coveted winners trophy and mouth watering cash prizes.
The 2025 Olona Unity Cup tournament which is also expected to promote unity , unearth bidding talents , and create employment opportunities for the youths , will also include cultural integration, , with cultural exchange programmes and traditional sports exhibitions to celebrate Nigeria,s rich cultural heritage.
It will be recalled that in the pulsating 2024 cup final match, Umuolo quarters, via a superb 75th minute strike by Destiny Abiakwunye adorned in the NO 11 jersey , scored the lone goal against Ogbekenu quarters , to lift the coveted winners trophy and #2million prize money .
