Delight Allison, the team’s youngest player, showed us what she’s made of, edging out Botswana’s Neo Phatsima in a thrilling match. But that’s not all – she also took home the women’s non-PSA singles title, defeating Helena Suzana Aletta from South Africa 3-2 in an intense final.
The team’s resilience paid off, Gabriel Olufunmilayo, Nigeria’s men number one seed, gave the Egyptians a run, but ultimately, Egypt took the top spot.
Sunday Wilson Egberipou, President of the Nigeria Squash Federation, is happy with the team’s performance. “That Nigeria finished second behind Egypt at the continental championship is worthy of commendation,” he said. “The West African powerhouse worked towards the top spot.
The team’s determination and hard work earned them a spot among the continent’s best, and we’re all celebrating their achievement, says Egberipou
The Nigerian team, consisting of Gabriel Olufunmilayo, Onaopemipo Adegoke, Kehinde Samuel Kehinde, Shedrack Oluseyi Abel, Rufiat Abdulazeez, Busayo Olatunji, Mosturah Durosinlorun, and Delight Allison, is making waves in the squash world.
