Nigeria has solidified its position as a leading force in African para sports, with two of its representatives elected into key positions on the Board of the Africa Paralympic Committee (AfPC) during the organization’s General Assembly in Accra, Ghana.

Mr. Sunday Odebode, a seasoned administrator, has been reelected as President of the West Africa region, a position he has held with distinction. His reelection is a testament to his outstanding leadership and the trust reposed in him by member countries.

In a new development, Mr. Suleiman Isah has emerged as the new Treasurer of the Africa Paralympic Committee, marking a significant milestone for Nigeria. Isah’s election is a recognition of his expertise and commitment to transparency and accountability in managing the Committee’s financial affairs.

The elections have been hailed as a triumph for Nigeria, underscoring the country’s growing influence and leadership within the African Paralympic movement. Odebode expressed gratitude for the continued trust placed in him, pledging to promote inclusivity and development of para sports across West Africa and the continent.

Isah also thanked the assembly for the confidence reposed in him, promising to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability. The Africa Paralympic Committee, as the umbrella body responsible for overseeing Paralympic activities across the continent, plays a vital role in promoting sports participation among persons with disabilities.

Nigeria’s double election victory is a testament to its dedication and consistent contribution to the growth of para sports in Africa, cementing its position as a leader in the continent’s para sports landscape.
