Former Nigeria”s Sports minister, Solomon Dalung, has called for prayers from Nigerians as the Super Eagles get set to take part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs that will hold in Morocco.
Dalung dropped the hint while speaking on an Enugu-based radio outfit, Prime Sports Radio on Wednesday.
“I think the boys have put up a very good fight back. I will be praying for them to keep the temple., so that at this time our football can appear at the World Cup scene again”.
“Since I left office in 2019, I have been lamenting because it seemed we can’t hoist our flag in the tournament anymore. So, enjoin prayer warriors to pray for the success of the Eagles to qualify”, stated Dalung.
The Super Eagles will face Gabon, Cameroon and DR Congo in the playoffs scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria will face Gabon on November 13 in their opening fixture of mini-tournament, while the winner will take on either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final.
The eventual champion will advance to the Intercontinental playoff in March 2026 where two World Cup tickets will be decided.
Already, the Eagles will officially begin camping in Rabat on Sunday, November 9, with all invited players expected to arrive on time.
