    NOC Concludes IOC Sport Management Course with Thesis Defense

    The Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) is set to host the final module of the IOC/NOC Advanced Sport Management Course (ASMC) from October 28 to 30, 2025, at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. This marks the culmination of a year-long programme designed to equip sports administrators with modern management skills and tools to drive positive change in their organisations.

    21 high-level participants will defend their theses, showcasing their expertise and knowledge gained from the programme. The ASMC is a flagship initiative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), delivered in partnership with the NOC, aiming to elevate sports governance in Nigeria.

    The programme, based on the IOC’s Managing Olympic Sport Organisations manual, combines in-person and virtual learning sessions over 12 months. Facilitated by IOC-certified Course Directors, Prof. Clement Fasan and Dr Jonathan Dyagas, the final module will feature invited external experts.

    NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, will declare the final session open, highlighting the committee’s commitment to developing competent sports administrators. The NOC aims to strengthen Nigeria’s sports system and ensure compliance with global standards for management and governance.

    The successful completion of this module will produce a new leaders ready to implement these standards across  Nigerian sports landscape. The NOC is dedicated to promoting Olympians’ values and fostering sports development in Nigeria.
