The unbeaten Gabriel Yusuff, aka GMercy, continued his impressive run in the welterweight category by recording another third-round knockout against Akintunde Abolade on October 10 during a national title challenge held inside the sports hall of National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, on a fight card promoted by Kay Gomez Boxing Promotions.

In his post-match reactions, GMercy dedicated his victory to God for guiding him this far and to his many fans who always stop what they are doing to come watch him fight, describing them as his greatest motivation.
He expressed his determination to continue improving and to bring home more titles in the future. With this win, GMercy solidified his reputation as a rising star in the boxing world, inspiring hope for even greater achievements ahead.

Gabriel said it was straightforward work for him to secure the win against Akintunde in the bout and is eager for his next fight. “I am not tired at all; I trained very hard for this. I was in camp since July, and it was easy work, effortless.”
When asked if he intentionally looks for the KO win against his opponents, Gabriel told the newsmen that “boxing is unpredictable; you can’t just say you want to go for a knockout; it’s not that easy. The opponent is also training; knockouts happen unexpectedly. I never go for a knockout, but I train very hard, like six to eight hours daily.”

With five knockouts from six fights, GMercy’s professional boxing record now stands at an incredible six-in-six after this technical knockout victory. He has expressed his desire to keep up his rigorous training and take on more challenging opponents in the future. As he seeks to capitalize on this momentum, the fighter remains committed to establishing himself as a rising boxing star.
