    National FEYSCO Officials to Grace Labour Cup Tournament in Afuze

    -Hail Owan East LGA Boss Hon Aruna Mohammed

    Some National officials of the Federation of Youth Soccer Clubs( FEYSOC) will be on ground to witness the closing event of this year’s Labour Cup Tournament in Afuze, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo state.

    The annual under 18 Boys and Girls Football tournament is in honour of the first labour Leader in Nigeria Pa Michael Aitokhamen Imoudu,

    and is expected to hold in Afuze, the administrative headquarters of Owan East local Government Area from October 13th -20th 2025.

    Organised by the Federation of youth soccer clubs( FEYSOC) South South Zonal Wing, The Eighteen Local Government councils of Edo state will send their male and female teams to Afuze for the tournament in Honour and memory of the Former and First Labour Leader in Nigeria( Pa Michael Imoudu) and also to celebrate the amiable Executive Governor of Edo state Senator Monday Okpebholo for his immense contributions to Sports development in the state as well as the good working relationship with labour(workers) in the state.

    Speaking in Abuja during the week, the National FEYSOC Secretary Hon AS Luya, appreciate the leadership of Owan East Local Government Council for accepting to host the event, he praised the hard working and Performing council chairman Hon Aruna Mohammed for delivering the devidends of Democracy to the good people of Owan East local Government Area since he assume office about ten months ago.

    ” Let me use this opportunity to commend the leadership of Owan East Local Government Area led by the performing chairman, Hon Aruna Mohammed for accepting to host this football carnival to honour the great Pa imoudu, and celebrate the workers, we know times are hard, but we appreciate his support, as the youth of Edo state converge in Afuze.

    ” Owan East are the current champions of the tournament in both categories which is a testament that the locality is blessed with talents that need to be tapped, i also remember how they did us proud in 2011 wining two major events in women football, in Niger state and Ghana, they won Mariam Babangida National Girls tournament which held in Minna, Niger State, and went on to represent Nigeria in Ghana for the Aids awareness international tournament and won it, we are proud of Owan East Local Government, Hon Luya stated.

    The Football administrator however promise to honour the council boss during the closing ceremony of the tournament in October.

    Owan East Local Government Area male and female teams are the defending Champions in both categories and are set to win again for the Hon Haruna Mohammed Led Owan East Local Government Area.

    Loved by his people for laudable projects he has delivered in the area, the sports loving Owan East Local Government boss is seen as one of best council boss in Edo state.

    Afuze the headquarters of Owan East Local Government Area, has a rich Sports history, with the former Games village built in 1973 by the then Military Governor of the Midwest state Late Samuel Ogbemudia, just as the area is also home to the Federal University of Sports, established to promote Sports Education and development in Nigeria.
