IMD 2025: COMRADE ADEYANJU CELEBRATES THE WORLD

The Vice Chairman, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), Deputy President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) celebrates with the entire maritme community globally.

The International Maritme Day is celebrated annually on September 25

This year’s theme which has: “Our Ocean, Our Obligation , Our Opportunity” is indeed diverse in nature for Maritmers to behold; hence, Dr Adewale Adeyanju is of note that the IMD event has come of age with lot’s of awareness and potential for the world to grab.

This year’s is event has emphasized on the gift of the ocean which offers humanity food, trade, job, biodiversity and climate regulation. So if we as Maritmers must enjoy the gift of the ocean, we must protect it, keep all the rules, regulations and standards of the ISPS code that govern Maritme Operations globally, the world would be a better place for us to live through the maritme space.

Comrade Adeyanju who was at the Ikoyi hotel of the event today, Thursday 25, with some other dignitaries says Nigera must embrace the truth by cooperating with world leaders towards forming policies that would rid both local and international space of hazardous emissions that are unhealthy to humanity and to the source of the nation’s blue economy that the country is already building through the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Adegboyega Oyetola.

When we are talking about the blue economy, we cannot divorce the ocean from it, which the creator of the univere has given to nature; therefore, we must protect it, so that we don’t lost out of trade, job and put our economy into jeopardy. This is the much reason we must all join hands to keep the ocean fresh and lively for every living creature underneath it.

I must commend Minister Oyetola for his vision on his ministry, and for having achieved so much in this little time. The Osun State born Minister has created so much awareness of the ministry by creating wealth and employment in that area of endeavor.

I urge all Nigerians to take up professionalism of trade from that angle of the marine and blue economy, which is an arm of both local and international trade, which the country cannot afford to ignore.

Today as a Maritmer, I felicitate with my colleagues in Nigeria and across the world on this uspicious occasion, believing that in unison, the world would protect the ocean for our entire benefit. Congratulations to you all from all walks of life who has come to felicitate this day.
