British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua is set to fight for the first time in Africa, precisely Nigeria.
Promoter, Ezekiel Adamu confirmed that talks are ongoing to stage the bout in early 2026 at the 50,000-capacity Abuja Stadium, fulfilling Joshua’s long-held dream of fighting in his home country.
“I spoke with him, I spoke with his team, and they already said to me, ‘If we had an offer from Nigeria, it’s a match made in heaven,’” Adamu told The Ring.
“Joshua has always said that before he ends his career, he wants to fight in Nigeria, and we are going to make that fight happen.”
Adamu added that the event is expected to be an all-African contest, with possible opponents including Tony Yoka, Martin Bakole, and even Deontay Wilder, also of Nigerian roots.
