It was a display of passion, teamwork, and sportsmanship as the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Delta State Chapter, hosted the third edition of its one-day Novelty Football Tournament at the FUPRE Sports Field in Ogbomoro, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The tournament brought together professional bodies across Delta State in an atmosphere of camaraderie and healthy competition. Teams from the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Chartered Accountants, Society of Women in Taxation, and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations thrilled spectators with their skills and determination on the pitch.

In the male category, the Nigerian Institute of Architects emerged champions after a tense penalty shootout against the Nigerian Society of Engineers. With the victory, the NIA dethroned the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, who were champions at the last edition. The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria secured third place by defeating the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, also through penalties.

In the women’s category, the Society of Women in Taxation triumphed over the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria to lift the trophy, capping a day of excitement and remarkable sporting displays.

The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Honourable Anthony Ofoni, who was represented by the Council Secretary, Grayham Osakwe, commended the initiative, describing it as a platform for unity, innovation, and development among professionals.

State Chairman of APBN, Surveyor Victor Ezie, alongside the Chairman of the 2025 APBN Football Tournament Organising Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, hailed the event as a true display of strength, solidarity, and professionalism. They applauded all the teams for the high level of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the competition.

Outstanding individuals were also honoured, with Rex Otokwefor of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria named Man of the Tournament, while Olorunyomi Grace of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria was crowned Woman of the Tournament.

The 2025 APBN Novelty Football Tournament ended as more than just a contest of goals; it was a celebration of unity, excellence, and the spirit of professionalism in Delta State.
