Liverpool and Newcastle United have agreed on a British record transfer fee of £125 million for Alexander Isak. The 25-year-old Swedish striker is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and sign a six-year contract with Liverpool.
This deal follows Liverpool’s previous club record signing of Florian Wirtz for £116 million. Isak’s arrival would take Liverpool’s summer spending to around £416 million without add-ons.
Isak, who joined Newcastle in 2022 for £60 million, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season and helped the Magpies win the Carabao Cup. However, his relationship with the club deteriorated, and he expressed desire to leave, citing broken promises.
The transfer saga has been ongoing, with Newcastle initially rejecting Liverpool’s £110 million offer. However, the two clubs have now reached an agreement, paving the way for Isak’s move to Anfield.
