The management of TKO PRO Sports has hinted at its plans to commence a capacity-building program for tertiary institutions in the southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria, which will entail seminars, upgrading of sports facilities within campuses, and the SouthwestTertiary Institution Games.

These, according to Tokunbo Ladipo, the CEO of TKO Pro Sport, are initiatives that align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which identifies sports as a critical sector for economic growth and youth empowerment.

A press release issued, signed by TKO Pro Sports, and made available to the sporting press also commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the watch of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Director General, Bukola Olopade, in their drive to reposition school sports as a central pillar of national talent discovery in tandem with the social education policy of the federal government.

“Identifying and nurturing talent as a sustainable domestic sports development, pointing to the success of student-athletes who contributed 38% of medals won at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said the TKO Pro Sports boss.

He added, however, that consultations and necessary collaborations with all the relevant stakeholders in the sports and education sectors in the Southwest geopolitical zone of the country have commenced, with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, being the grand patron of the program.
This initiative aims to foster talent and ensure that young athletes receive the support they need to excel both academically and in their respective sports. By leveraging the influence and resources of local leaders, the program hopes to create a sustainable framework that encourages future generations to pursue excellence in sports.
