As a 21-day mourning period commenced on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, in honour of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Olawale Ogunkeyede, a philanthropist and the CEO of WALBOG Motors, has commiserated with all the sons and daughters of Ibadan over the passage of the revered monarch.

The famous Ibadan-based auto dealer, in a chat with newsmen, described the late Olubadan as very refined and highly tolerant with a deep knowledge of Yoruba culture and customs.

He, however, praised the late Olubadan’s ability to bring people together, noting that his leadership style was characterized by wisdom and compassion. He commended the monarch’s commitment to promoting peace and development in Ibadanland.

Ogunkeyede prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the Olubadan designate, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. He expressed confidence that Senator Ladoja would leverage his experience to drive development and unity in the ancient city.

He emphasized the importance of fostering a collaborative spirit among the community members to ensure that the legacy of the late Olubadan continues, while he encouraged everyone to support the new leadership and work together towards a brighter future for Ibadanland.

“May God rest the soul of Kabiyesi as he transited to join his ancestors in the great beyond,” said Ogunkeyede while speaking with the journalist in his Oke-Ado office in Ibadan on Tuesday.
