The commissioner for Sports Development, Bayelsa State, honourable Daniel Igali, has sent his goodwill messages to the Bayelsa contingent ahead of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State

The State delegation, which is led by the Director of Sports Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi, left Yenagoa on Friday.

Honourable Igali, in a farewell address, told them of the state’s support while being optimistic of the task ahead.

He noted that although some of the athletes may be representing the state for the first time, the tournament affords them the opportunity to make themselves and the state proud.

Igali urged the departing athletes to build on the strong performance of Bayelsa in previous tournaments by posting a strong performance that will ensure that Bayelsa emerges the best in Nigeria.

“Let me remind you that you’re carrying the hopes and aspirations of Bayelsa. The governor of our dear state is very optimistic of a good outing and is committed to encouraging you to excel without any hindrance,” Igali said.

Honourable Igali in solidarity wished the team a safe trip to Ogun while reminding them to continue being good ambassadors of the state as Bayelsa has become a household name in the sports industry

Bayelsa came second at the last edition of the Nigerian olympic Games version that took place in Asaba, Delta State, in 2022.
