Ese Brume’s comeback at the Drake Relays is a testament to her determination and resilience. After a car accident in December 2024, which left her with a sprained ankle and strained neck, Brume made a remarkable recovery.

She began light training in March 2025 and quickly got back into form, finishing third in the women’s long jump finals with a jump of 6.36m

Brume finished 3rd in the women’s long jump finals with a Jump distance: of 6.36m

Tara Davis-Woodhall emerged winner with a jump of 6.75m

Brume’s performance is impressive, considering she was competing in her first event since the Paris Olympics and her recent injury. The Nigerian long jumper has had an illustrious career, winning multiple titles including two Commonwealth gold medals and four African titles. She’s also the current African record holder in the women’s long jump with a record jump of 7.17m set in 2021.

With this comeback, Brume seems to be on track to achieving her goal of getting back on the podium.
