The National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Initiator of the Niger Delta Sports Festival, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, have agreed to work together to facilitate private sector involvement in Nigerian sports.
During a working visit to the NSC chairman, Sir Ikpokpo expressed his admiration for Mallam Dikko’s vision for sports development, which aligns with his own goals. The two discussed ways to enhance the sports economy and encourage private sector participation.
Sir Ikpokpo, an entrepreneur with a passion for sports development, initiated the Local Government Sports Festival in Delta State and the Niger Delta Sports Festival. He believes that collaborating with the NSC can lead to more significant contributions to sports development at the federal level.
The NSC chairman’s vision for the sports economy, in line with the Renewed Hope (RHINES) strategy, aims to promote private sector involvement.
Sir Ikpokpo, with his entrepreneurial experience, is well-positioned to support this objective.
During the meeting, Ikpokpo congratulated Mallam Dikko on his appointment as NSC Chairman, praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making an excellent choice. He expressed confidence in Mallam Dikko’s ability to excel in his role, citing his reputable track record in sports administration.
The collaboration between the NSC and Ikpokpo is expected to positively impact Nigerian sports, with both parties working together to explore new avenues for growth and development.
