The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has arrived in Mauritius ahead of a high-level meeting with the President of the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA), Mr. Khaled Mehalhel.

The meeting is part of strategic efforts to leverage Nigeria’s strength in weightlifting and explore new avenues to grow the sport nationally.

Nigeria, a dominant force in African and global weightlifting, continues to seek partnerships that will enhance athlete development, coaching capacity, and international representation.

Mr. Khaled Mehalhel, who also serves as Chairman of the Development and Education Commission of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), is a key figure in shaping the future of the sport globally. His engagement with Nigeria’s sports leadership underscores the country’s rising profile and influence in international weightlifting circles.

Hon. Olopade expressed optimism about the potential outcomes of the meeting, stating that the NSC is committed to strengthening institutional relationships and creating more opportunities for Nigerian lifters to shine on the world stage.
