Valencia’s Sporting Director, Miguel Ángel Corrona, also has expressed his delight at the signing of Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy. The 27-year-old Nigerian striker was unveiled at the Mestalla Stadium, marking a new chapter in his career.
According to Corrona, Sadiq’s arrival is a significant boost to the team’s attacking options. “We think he’s going to bring us a lot in attack. He’s going to give us a lot of options, being compatible with all the players we have in the squad,” Corrona stated. The Sporting Director also highlighted Sadiq’s versatility, noting that he can play upfront alone or alongside other players.
Corrona revealed that Sadiq’s desire to join Valencia was evident throughout their conversations. “Today, in fact, he has come to do a training session even though he was not scheduled for the group, and it is one more example… of the desire he had to join our project and wear the Valencia shirt,” Corrona said.
With Valencia currently languishing in 19th place on the La Liga table, Corrona acknowledged that Sadiq’s arrival is a much-needed injection of talent. “We fully trust the template we have. We added one more striker to the cause, knowing the misfortunes we’ve had in that position,” Corrona explained.
Sadiq could make his Valencia debut as early as Tuesday in the Copa Del Rey against second-tier Spanish side, Eldense.
