The Governor of Enugu state, his Excellency , Dr Peter Mbah has Announced the composition of the local organising committee ( LOC) for the 23rd National Sports Festival, Enugu 2026.
The LOC Members, according to the Governor were carefully selected for their competence , excellence and exceptional contributions to the Sport sector.
The Local Organising Committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Enugu state, Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr.
The Committee comprises the following seasoned sports administrators as members ;
1. Bamiduro Olumide : A respected Sports Management expert and former Badminton Champion, serving as General Secretary
2. Mary Onyali : Former World class Athlete with extensive international experience
3. Aku Aghazu : Accomplished lawyer with specialisation in Sports Management
4. Victor Okorie : Elite Athletes representative and Member of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria AFN
5. Blessing Chisalam Ekwe : COO of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria and FIFA licenced Agent
6. Davidson Owumi : Highly experienced Sports Administrator, current COO of the Nigeria Professional Football League and Former General Manager of Enugu Rangers FC
7. Tony Ugwu : Chairman Enugu Football Association
8. Henry Chinedu Okorie : Executive Member of the Nigeria Olympics Committee and Chairman of the Nigeria Athletics Athletes Commission
9. Jonathan Nnaji : President of the Nigeria’s Modern Pentathlon Federation, Vice President of the Africa Modern Pentathlon Confederation and Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee
10. Boniface Onovo: Director of Organising Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports
11. Ephraim Ochonma : Director of Coaching Enugu state Ministry of Youth and Sports
12. Obiora Obasi : Technical assistance to the Honourable Commissioner , Enugu state Ministry of Youth and Sports
The Governor said the State has full confidence in the competence of all the members and their individual and collective qualities to organise and deliver an outstanding National Sports Festival.
The LOC Chairman and Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr, has also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to hosting a festival of International standards.
