This year’s Oricha Basketball Challenge, will hold on Saturday, February 23rd, 2025 at the GSS Garki Basketball Arena.

The annual event, which was instituted by the founder of the foundation, Alhaji Abubakar Ajayi a former basketball player, and now the principal of GSS Gwarimpa 1, will this year involve the adoption of basketball teams from 4 public senior secondary schools in the FCT.

According to Alhaji Abubakar Ajayi,”the lucky schools will benefit from our donation of basketballs, received training equipment and mentorship for a year”.

The four adopted schools will also0 compete for the trophy in a mini-championship, that will precede the veterans game; which has been an integral part of the Oricha Basketball Challenge since its inception.

The foundation will also be presenting scholarship awards to 20 players, to cover this term’s school fees; and this is to encourage players to study while playing basketball.

Most of the veterans are supporters of the foundation, and over 30 of them have indicated their readiness to participate in the events, to be graced by Dr. Mohammed Sani Ladan, the Director/Secretary FCT Secondary Education Board; and Hon. Kabiru Ajana – the Head of Ebira land, among other dignitaries.
