Hezbollah’s Drone Strike In Northern Israel Injures 67, Four In Critical Condition

A drone strike launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon hit the Binyamina area in northern Israel Sunday evening, injuring at least 67 people, including four in critical condition.

The attack, which came without warning as no alarms were triggered, caused widespread panic and significant injuries. Israel’s emergency medical services, Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed that four of the wounded were in critical condition and five were in serious condition, with several others in moderate condition. The injured have been transported to hospitals across the region, including Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer and Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, with some evacuated by helicopter due to the severity of the injuries.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Hezbollah launched multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) toward Israel. One drone was intercepted over the sea by Israeli air defenses, but another penetrated deep into Israeli territory, exploding in the Binyamina area without triggering any warning sirens. Eyewitnesses reported a sudden and massive explosion, with one person describing it as a “crazy boom.”

The IDF is currently investigating why no alarms were activated during the attack, as alarms did sound in other areas, including Acre and Nahariya, when another drone was intercepted in the Western Galilee. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was carried out in retaliation for Israeli strikes in Lebanon. The group also asserted that its capabilities remain strong and that it can continue to target deep into Israeli territory.

This incident is part of a series of recent Hezbollah drone attacks targeting Israeli communities, including a previous strike on a retirement home in Herzliya two days earlier, which did not result in any casualties. The ongoing drone threat from Hezbollah has heightened concerns in Israel, especially as the IDF conducts limited ground operations in southern Lebanon.

As the situation heightens, the IDF continues to assess the threat posed by Hezbollah’s drone capabilities, which have become a key tactic in the group’s operations against Israel. The Home Front Command has updated its safety guidelines for affected regions, with restrictions on gatherings and activities implemented in several areas, including Afula and the Jezreel Valley.
