Coach Jose Peseiro is a front-runner in a three-horse race to clinch the managerial position of Desert Foxes of Algeria vacated by Djamel Belmadi after the elimination of his team, Algeria at the last AFCON.

According to Algerian publication, DZ Foot, the former Algerian FA acting president, Mohamed Maouche who headed the ad-hoc committee to select a new coach said that their work was done and report sent to the Algerian FA president, Wali Sadi.

Mapuche reportedly told an Algerian radio station that their “work was done.”

The report has been sent to the FA President to select one of the short-listed trio.

“The mission of the commission is completed. We made a detailed report on each coach who was on the list and we transmitted it to the president of the FAF.

He added that the choice is now in the hands of the president of the Federation “It’s up to Walid Sadi to make the right choice now.”

Sports Village Square also gathered that the ad-hoc commission on the selection of the new Algerian coach also considered head-hunting the South African Belgian coach, Hugo Broos.

With Hugo Broos also in the picture, it means either Nigeria or South Africa who are billed to clash in June in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers may current lose coach.
