    Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest in Benue *Two Others Escape, One Rescued From Kidnapper

    Unknown gunmen have kidnapped Rev Fr Anthony Adikwu, a Catholic Priest attached to St Margaret parish, Ajegbe Awume in Ohimini Local Government Area (LGA), Otukpo Diocese of Benue state.
    SportsDay however gathered that no information as to those responsible for the kidnap of the Priest who was kidnapped on Thursday night have been received as at press time.
    Meanwhile, three persons that were abducted by kidnappers at a wake at Ahume, Gwer West LGA of the state last Tuesday have regained their freedom.
    While, the policeman and another man who were among the kidnapped persons at a wake have escaped from the hands of their abductors, even as the woman has been rescued.
    The kidnappers had demanded 1.7 million for the release of their victims.
    However, SportsDay reliably learnt that Rev. Adikwu who was kidnapped on Thursday night by unknown gunmen at the Parish residence is yet to be found.
    Source at the parish said, “Yesterday night at about 10pm, unknown gunmen
    stormed Ajegbe Awume, Ohimini Benue State, the community where I’m currently serving and kidnapped the Priest in charge of St. Margaret Parish Rev Fr Anthony Adikwu.”
    When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Benue State Police Command, SP Sewuese Anene who confirmed the incident said “The information got to us this morning (Friday) and we are working on it.” End.
