Dimeji Lawal, the General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, anticipates a promising future for the club, guided by the ambitious plans of the new Executive Chairman, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami.

Making his first official statement since the appointment of Honourable Salami by Governor Seyi Makinde, Kabongo, as the ex-international is popularly called, expressed belief in the ability of the business mogul to take the club to greater heights.

In a chat with the sporing press, the former Femo Scorpions, Julius Berger, and Shooting Stars ‘player started by hailing the immediate chairman, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, who he said played his part in moving the club from where it was to where it is but sees his successor taking it further.

“To start with, I want to appreciate His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, who has never hidden his intentions to ensure the glory days of Shooting Stars return.

“His Excellency’s choice of Akoro, as the immediate former chairman is well known, was not an error. Akoro was able to bring in some transformation, but we all know growth takes time.

“However, based on the interactions I have had with my new boss (Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami), I can confidently say the governor has put the right peg in a round hole,” said the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles’ winger.

“In Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami, I can see a man ready to break the ground to put Shooting Stars where the club should belong, as far as the round leather game is concerned, not only in Nigeria but beyond.

“He is coming from a football-loving family, with unquestionable antecedents and vast knowledge of how a professional football club should look. In addition, the name Lekan Salami is big enough to pull the strings,” stated Kabongo.

He added, “Moreover, the Chairman has influence in various fields, including politics, sports, particularly football, and business. He possesses the ability to open doors, and it’s evident that he has already taken decisive action.”

“All these considered, I think it’s indeed the dawn of a new era for this great club, and I believe so much that everything he has outlined is possible, because here is a man who has shown through his words and actions that no hurdle is too high to scale if you have the will.”

While looking forward to a glorious days ahead for the club, on and off the field, the former Super Eagles’ star, solicited for support from all stakeholders for the new 3SC boss.

“With the support of every stakeholder, I’m seeing this club reclaiming its rightful place on the domestic scene, also on the continent of Africa and globally, under the leadership of Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami,” concluded the former international.
