The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reiterated its commitment to upholding professionalism, fairness, and strict compliance with established guidelines that govern the 3rd National Para Games.

The Director General of the Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade emphasized that adherence to rules is fundamental to the growth and credibility of sports development in Nigeria. He added that enforcing regulations ensures a level playing field for all participants while safeguarding opportunities for committed athletes to showcase their talents.

“We must be deliberate about building a system that rewards commitment and respects structure. The rules guiding the National Para Games are clear, and we have a responsibility to uphold them without compromise,” the DG said.

In line with Article 13(V) of the competition rules and regulations, the Commission confirmed that states that registered athletes for the Games but failed to participate will be barred from taking part in para events at the forthcoming National Sports Festival. This provision, clearly enshrined within the framework governing the Games, empowers the Organizing Committee to enforce compliance in the interest of discipline and integrity.

“Nigeria has long maintained a reputation for excellence in para sports, even at the Paralympic Games. The Commission is therefore determined to sustain this legacy by strengthening structures that promote talent discovery, development, and fair competition,” the DG added.

Enugu State emerged as champions, amassing 55 medals: 40 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals.

Bayelsa finished as first runners-up with 25 gold, 30 silver, and 34 bronze. Edo State finished third with 25 gold, 14 silver, and 12 bronze medals.
