    $11,500 Prize Money Set for Elite Athletes at Yenagoa City International 10KM Race

    Nilayo Sports Management Ltd., organizers of the Yenagoa City International 10KM Race have unveiled an mouthwatering $11,500 prize purse for elite athletes set to compete in the race on April 4, 2026, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

    The first edition of the race, which continues to gain global attention, will attract elite runners from across Nigeria and around the world, all competing for glory and significant prize rewards in what promises to be one of the most exciting road races on the athletics calendar.

    The prize structure for elite male and female athletes will see the winners take home $5,000, while the second-place finishers will receive $3,000. The third-place athletes will earn $2,000, followed by $1,000 for fourth place and $500 for the fifth-place finishers.

    The Yenagoa City International 10KM Race will commence at 9:30 a.m., with runners starting from Opolo Roundabout along the Isaac Boro Expressway and finishing at the iconic Peace Park on the Mbiama–Yenagoa Road. The official race cut-off time is 12:30 p.m.

    Designed to promote sports development, wellness, and tourism in Bayelsa State, the race is expected to draw hundreds of participants, spectators, and athletics enthusiasts, reinforcing Yenagoa’s growing reputation as a destination for international sporting events.

    Interested participants can obtain their registration forms at the Sports Department Office, Ministry of Sports Complex, Ovom, Yenagoa, opposite the First Baptist Church, or register online at www.yenagoacity10kmrace.com.

    The race is sanctioned by the World Athletics and supported by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, ensuring adherence to global standards and competitive integrity.
